The Difference Box
If you notice a difference – small or large in your difference box in your Financials flyout, here’s how you deal with it.
The value shown of the Total of your resources for the whole Job and any Items that you have identified shows as a difference in the difference box. It is not uncommon and in fact usual to see small differences, because Liberate will always show the correct value of Quantity x Rate = Total. It is normal to find a small difference between the values of the Resource Totals at the top of your screen and the Item value. See below for further info.
Sometimes if the Quantity is high and the rates are low you may have to expand your Rates to more than 4 figures to compensate for this. Liberate allows you to do this.
However the most common reason is that you have a Zero value in your Quantity for an Item. Lets deal with this first.
The resource Totals shown on the left shows a total at Cost of 408.69. These are the absolute resource totals of the highlighted Item line below Item 2.09 which has a zero quantity and would then generate a difference in the Difference summary on the financial page.
However the Value of Item 2.09 in the image along side shows as ZERO (0.00).
Solution:
Type a value into the Item Quantity and the Difference will reduce to a small value.
Check for other Item rows that may have resources in them but ZERO quantities.
Other issues that may cause a difference
Liberate often has to deal with Large areas at very low rates and there may be figures that are a fraction of a penny or a cent.
You can increase your decimal places in Liberate to minimise thisor change the value of the Quantity.
In the above image look at Item 2.05
It shows a Quantity of 10480 m2
Either change this to 1.48 ha
Or you can increase the decimal places of the rate. The following images show this .
From the Options Icon, Select Money and increase the decimal places.
Note that it will remain on this option for all Jobs so reselect 2 places for jobs that don’t require this.
There may still be small and inconsequential rounding differences.
